Gettin It Up Down at da Jersey ShoreI walked up to a group of guys in the middle of an intense conversation that went something like this... "Can you get it up?" "No, man, don't matter what I do -- I just can't get it up anymore." "I hear dat. I can't get it up either." There were nods in agreement and concern and lament over the problem. I walked over, puzzled. Wondering if I had just stumbled on some new species of male that openly admits to having problems with their manhood and validates the need for wonder drugs like Viagra. And then I saw they were all standing around a bike -- a beater to be more accurate. The clutch was shot, the engine on its last leg, scratched, dented, crashed, banged up, a hodgepodge of parts from motorcycles past -- this poor bike had seen better days. The "it" in 'can't get it up.' And this was my introduction to the guys from Last Gear out at da Jersey Shore. With nicknames like Big Dogg, Pimp Daddy, Rage, Red and E Blaze -- the guys from Last Gear are certainly unique and the only ones I know that have secured their very own road to practice and play on without consequences from the local authorities. Despite the conversation I heard initially, these boys had no problems getting it up and that goes for the front or rear wheel.
Despite having their own little road to practice on day and night to their heart's content, the stunt that everyone seem to prefer was burn outs which ordinarily doesn't require much space at all. Standing burnouts, rolling burnouts, figure eight burnouts, simultaneous coordinated burnouts -- you name it -- they were doing it and doing it and doing it. The tires are not the only thing that take a beating when it comes to burnouts -- check out Raheem's license plate.
