 Saturday...

strap what?Strangely enough... despite our strap job - the bikes were still standing after several hundred miles of driving.  I spent a lot of my time loooutback.jpg (316040 bytes)king out the back window to make sure that all was well.

With the crappy weather... staying up too late packing and coordinating and just being tired and general, I was getting sick.  Spending hours outside not properly dressed while trying to strap in the bikes didn't reallyScott driving... help either.  So I was downing Nyquil for most of the ride down.  Scotty Tissue & S alternated on the driving and I tried to be as awake as possible to keep them company on the drive down.

The drive to Florida is crazy boring.... I was going to document it, but, ya know, take the long boring drive...a look at this picture here and it pretty much looks like this the whole damn way.  As long as whoever was driving didn't fall asleep at the wheel, everything would be fine.

bikes... Dom sleeping...

We didn't stop much... mainly for gas.  But no trip would be completely without eating at Sonny's.    When we hit the Florida border we pulled over for some BBQ.   Happily, my triple layer of clothes, sweats and sweat shirt were no longer appropriate attire!

Welcome to Fucken FloridahSIXTEEN HOURS LATER

We got to the hotel... yeah, don't ask how we got from NYC to Daytona in a 37ft long vehicle in sixteen hours.... but we made it and it was WARM.

Better yet, there was a mad storm heading towards New York and I was ready to put on shorts and ride my bike.

This hardcore racing shirt pretty much summed up the day... although it might have offended a few people in various rest stops - but oh well.

Duty

So... even though I was tired from all the Nyquil, the drive, etc... I felt it was my duty to ride a little in the balmy Florida weather.  I switched to Dayquil, downed a protein shake and rode around -- nice to be on the bike again!
