There
are just some days when you gotta let lose. Forget about leathers, cops,
crashing, death. etc... and just take off. Despite the fact that summer is
technically over, you wouldn't know it by the day -- absolutely gorgeous.
Today was the Super Boat International New York Powerboat Race... and ya can't be in the downtown area without hearing the roar of the boats going by. As you can see by the pictures - the day was prefect for boats, perfect for bikes and especially perfect for speed.
I got a call from my favorite Squidette to run around town for a
while
and
despite my intent to work on my tan on what could be one of the last sunny days
til next year, I decided riding seemed like a much better idea. So we all
met up at a place downtown - got a bite to eat - watched the boats a while
and then took off. There are days when your bike just doesn't wanna
stay on two wheels and today was one of them.
Of course, there are also days when good endos go bad and today
was one of those days too... note: you're not supposed to endo INTO another
bike... especially a G
SX-R1000.
But all was good - not too much damage.
I took the squids to Perkins and we played around there for a
while -- fun bunch of guys -- don't remember half of their names but it was
a blast. They rode well for the most part -- the wheelies were short and
low but entertaining... Everyone took the corners pretty ok.. didn't have to
wait too long which is better than I expected
considering
that most boys that wheelie don't know how to corner. So that was a nice
change. After a few hours -- the boys went their way and us girls decided
it was time to grab some grub and
get home. I gotta start bringing my helmet cam more often though -
there were some nice moves on the Palisades... problem is - if I'm filming I
gotta be in the back of the pack - and boy do I hate that. Going slow
sucks. :-)
